A taste of Tuscany’s La Dolce Vita

Capturing the story of Michael and Sophie at Villa di Ulignano

As a destination wedding videographer, there are few locations as enchanting as the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes of Tuscany. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to capture the love story of Michael and Sophie at the beautiful Villa di Ulignano and it was truly a privilege.

Arrival on Friday evening

The journey began on a late Friday evening, myself and second shooter Matt arrived at the villa nestled among the peaceful Tuscan hills. The sun had set, and the landscape was softly illuminated by the warm glow of the villa’s lights.

Saturday unfolded like a serene postcard. The sun was high in the sky and after unpacking my gear, I spent the day relaxing by the pool, soaking in the idyllic atmosphere and getting to chat with Mark Wallis, Sophie and Michael’s photographer. Mark was fantastic to work with and we even shared a mutual love for the heavier side of music, discussing everything from download festival to favourite bands over a couple of beers.

"In the late afternoon, I ventured through the grounds, capturing establishing shots of the villa"

The lush greenery, ornate architecture, and sweeping views of the Tuscan countryside provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s special day. Each frame was a testament to the romance that filled the air.

It was coming home!

As evening descended, the villa transformed into a haven of joy and laughter. Michael and Sophie hosted a pizza party that brought family and friends together in a casual yet festive atmosphere. The aroma of freshly baked pizzas filled the air, and cheers erupted as we gathered to watch the quarter final clash at Euro 2024 between England and Switzerland in the charming old cinema room. Trent Alexander-Arnold scores the winning penalty, and once again the hearts of England fans are full of hope, that it may just be coming home. We all know how it panned out, but nevertheless the hope and joy that filled the room that night, carried through to the wedding.

A Beautiful Sunday Celebration

Despite the blistery start to the day, the morning quickly transformed into one of warmth and anticipation, as preparations for the wedding began. The outdoor setting, surrounded by Tuscan hills, was breathtaking—a beautiful canvas for the vows they were about to share. The ceremony was a heartwarming affair, filled with personal touches and heartfelt moments.

As Michael and Sophie exchanged their vows, I was honored to capture the emotions of joy, love, and commitment that enveloped them. Following the ceremony, guests gathered for a delightful evening meal under the stars, creating a festive ambiance as the sun set.

The celebrations erupted into a lively party. Laughter echoed through the villa, and the dance floor became a whirlwind of joy and connection.
